Fancy a skull cake for your next birthday? Yes, a three-dimensional cake made to resemble the bony framework of the head enclosing the brain. Baker Chloe Bird specialises in creating these eerie, but otherwise delicious, cakes and won this year’s Threadcakes cake contest. Whether you’re after a milk or white chocolate variety, Bird’s Bitter Teeth cake (based on the t-shirt) will sure give you your chocolate fix by means of ganache, flavoured sponge and melted chocolate.

UK-based one-man-band Sieben has a new album out: As They Should Sound. Frontman Matt Howden builds songs with a loop pedal and a violin, which he uses for rhythm and melody. His sound is wonderfully sophisticated and cabalistic, with a particularly British sense of lyricism.
