With its inspired pulp-movie-esc look and feel this new California white is sure to seduce. The brainchild of wine maker Jeff Booth, The Blonde Bombshell was the result of combining two Californian favorites – Hollywood and wine – into one badass sexy bottle.

Designed by South Carolina-based Hook, the labels were created not only to pop on the shelves, but to match the wine’s own fun, fruity taste as well. And if you’re super keen on these saucy vineyard vixens, The Blonde Bombshell is sister to The Big Red Monster – another old-Hollywood chic classic. Hot cha cha, baby.

Ever been totally confounded by the wine selection at your local booze shop? 94wines is here to help. Using a fun little survey on its website, the Dutch company claims it can find several wines that will be a perfect match for your particular tastes. Just answer six simple questions (Do you prefer mint or pepper? Would you rather walk on the beach or in a forest?), and out pops your ‘wine ID’. The company has its own line of wines – with names like Fresh, Spicy and Luscious — that are then matched to your score, and you can order them straight off the site. The company calls it ‘the most personal wine in the world’ — we call it a stellar idea.

So, with the creative cats at Australian-based Mash design studio, this Adelaide Hills producer developed a label to live up to its reputation. Taking a tongue and cheek approach, Mash’s design cleverly integrates scenes from horror flicks to give the feeling of an old-school film flyer. Between the illustrations, hand written text, and uncoated stock, through Killibinbin, film noir meets Shiraz and Cabernet. The wine has a solid reputation, but the labels are clearly a knock out.

Inventive, quirky, and a creative force in the Canadian wine industry: this is Blasted Church Vineyards. Taking its name and imagery from the true story of a mining era church that was dismantled by dynamite then moved to town where the vineyard now lies, this small estate winery is a true tour de force. The whimsical cartoon like design, originally developed by the cool cats at Vancouver-based marketing and design shop Brandever Strategy, reinvented the vineyard a few years back, turning Blasted Church into one of Canada’s most celebrated wineries.

But starting this week, Blasted Church is going to new heights retiring the old look and turning to a revamped design to match new environmentally-friendly Eco-glass bottles. As vintages are released, Blasted Church’s bottles will be branded with the eccentric 3-D illustrations of Chris Sickels of Red Nose Studio. The reworked designs play off the old labels but add a definitive sense of more stylized quirkiness. Along with the face lift, Blasted Church will also release a super limited edition of sparking wines aptly named, ‘OMG’. Amen to that.

There are several cool things about this Australian Shiraz, Luchador Wine. The first is obvious: the eye-catching label with its bright illustrative work, imagined by the creative design team, Morning Breath. The comic book-esc feel of the labels turn what could have been ordinary bottles into collectors items. The second great thing about this wine is its name and poster-boy: the Luchador. That’s right, those oh-so-famous Mexican wrestlers.

The wine makers have bragged that through the use of the iconic Luchador, this classic Shiraz has been boasting some recognized Latino appeal — something the wine world all too rarely does. Finally, with a Robert Parker rating of 90 and a market price of about $15, it’s a reliably tasty wine that is nicely affordable. And whether or not it “will body-slam your tongue,” as it says on the bottle, the label alone should inspire you enough to pick up a bottle, or two, or four…
