I played in a band for many years, a mediocre guitar rock band with a fondness for cliched riffs and a collective guitar case full of unfulfilled dreams. But damn, it was fun. Mind you, I suspect we never had quite as much fun as those mayhem makers in Motley Crew, who have been immortalized in vinyl, in more ways than one. Oh, yes, to be a fly on their rehearsal room wall.

Lost At E Minor contributor, Tristan Eaton, has a cool vinyl toy out, Billy Banana, the Blue glow version of which which stands at five inches tall and comes in a limited run of just 300 pieces.
Boy, these are a long way removed from the baby blue quilts that adorned my childhood bed. I blame it on WOW, or The Simpsons, or on whatever other modern cultural phenomenon has de-sensitized us to the brilliant crassness and somewhat blunt messaging on these fun cotton creations by Quiltsrÿche. Dammit. This song is stuck in my head. The dual vocal part with the man and the horse is actually really good. Does that make me really lame?
Damn, ten years of playing guitar in loud rock bands, and not once did we have a slamming moshpit like this. Banging heads is so, so fun.
Only in Japan? Well, maybe. Though Oklahoma may be a close second on the radar. Apparently, in this time of recession, Japanese men have taken rather fondly to inanimate objects rather than the real thing as a less expensive way to, err, fulfill their needs. Philly indie rock group Dr Dog recently compiled a crackling Secret Playlist for us which included props for songs by Cass McCombs, Thunderclap Newman, and the new time rag star, A.A Bundy, about whose track, Vice Rag, keyboardist Zach Miller wrote: ‘Good enough to be a classic old timey melody, except with more contemporary lyrical vices added. Now this is fun. This 3D watch dial actually jumps to life. The dial is a modern version of the 19th century art form of lithophanes: carved porcelain sheets that, when lit, deliver astoundingly detailed images.
