Drawing upon both the traditional and the classically abstract ideals of tie design, the Sovereign Beck line of neckwear was created in limited quantity: bias cut and hand stitched in New York City. There are just 75 pieces per design.

The Sovereign Beck Silk 2009 collection was conceived with the idea to give a new look to the hand-printed designs of their 2008 Cotton collection. Again collaborating with screen printer Polluted Eyeball, Sovereign Beck have translated four of their favorite patterns onto beautiful hand-picked silks. Limited in quantity to only twenty pieces for each design, every tie is bias cut and hand-stitched in New York City. We have a selection of Sovereign Beck Cotton ties available through our online store.
A gingerbread house sitting on the lip of a hot cup of tea is a comforting and aesthetic treat for any kind of winter blues. Megan, or Not Martha, came up with this very cute idea and on her site she shows people how to create their very own edible cup architecture.
These photographs are so good I bought the book. I discovered Merkley??? on Flickr. This bearded photographer is a slightly unnerving straight-talking San Franciscan whose images of friends (mainly wannabe models) push the boundaries of symmetry, skin tone, colour and pleasure to the very limits.

As a non-coffee drinker, I’m not going to rant about the coffee. I’ve heard, though, that the coffee is damn good. But I am going to talk about something else: food. Oh. My. God. Sydney’s Single Origin cafe have this awesome meatloaf sandwich and a raft of sourdoughs and prosciutto and roast lamb and chevre and chunky steak pies and yogurt with compote and four-cheese toasties and baked beans and … oh! Don’t forget Karlie’s special homemade lemonade! Karlie is always in the house so you know that it doesn’t come from a can and arrives at your table with that sour tang that reminds you of the annual Royal Easter Show. I’ve been a big fan of Michelle Vandermeer’s work since I came across her Mini Majellen zines at this year’s Sydney Writers Festival. Describing herself as a doer — as in one of those people who are always doing or making something — Michelle’s work, which includes book binding, illustration, jewelery making and her zines, stems from an internal creative springboard and a double degree in architecture and graphic design. Lindstrom, the man who single-handedly coined the term ‘minimal space-disco’ (well, perhaps nudged in the right direction by Orbital et al), recently released a new, rather ambitious, album, Where You Go I Go Too. Weaving between ambient trance and breakbeat-flecked disco, the producer responsible for the mesmerizing reworking of that tune we all secretly love, Roxy Music’s Avalon, has produced a worthy follow-up to his 2006 album, ‘It’s A Feedility Affair’. This time, however, there’s only three tracks, ranging between 10 and 29 minutes in length, and the Eno/Ferry influence is thankfully clear to all.
