Since starting my website, This Island Life, I’ve been guilty of a few things. But we’re not here to talk about my need to purchase everything I write about. We’re here because I’ve been neglecting the fashionable men in my life. What can I say? I was blinded by bikinis and balayage – things that (bless your hearts) you guys read and even commented on. Yesterday I didn’t even know these shoes existed. Today, they’re all I can think about. Perforated suede, luxe animal prints, a chunky four-inch wedge and a summery peep toe front: it’s like Jeffrey Campbell invaded my shoe dreams and brought them to life. Had I not made a rookie error, I would have saved myself a chunk of cash and a hell of a lot of time.

Everything about this shoe is cool, especially that it has been designed by Dutch uber-architect, Rem D Koolhaas, for United Nude. The Lo Res Black Out shoe was created using innovative design software, which creates low level 3D resolutions of an existing product to fragment their shape into something structural. Et voila! A shoe star [...]

I stumbled upon this quirky invention several months ago at the beginning of a creative collaboration I was working on. The idea involves an ‘interchangeable upper’ or skin which is separate to the sole and tongue’, allowing individuals to design their own shoe.

For the girls who love to play dress up and have the deep pockets to do so, this Irregular Choice Blue Suede Shoe is just the thing. For a cool $250, you can have your toys and wear them, too! The detachable trinkets can multitask on a boring handbag handle or as a keychain to [...]

And I thought Croc clogs were wrong. Artist Kenny Kirschner created these Nipple Clogs as a cheeky way for woman to show off her assets. You’ll stop traffic and likely end up with an indecent exposure ticket when showing off these shoes. For the alternative girl, the shoe sports a silver ring through the nipple. [...]

With the kickoff to the 2010 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, I’m prepared to go all out and support my team with the world’s most expensive soccer cleat. Designed by former fashion model and dancer, Luisa Di Marco, this collection of three luxury trainers sports a staggering 7,444 precious stones, valued at some $628,000. Gooooaaaaaalllll!

They may be incredibly eccentric, but these ten inch platforms are physical proof that it is actually possible to create somewhat aesthetically pleasing heels out of elephant faeces. UK-based artist INSA designed the shoes as part of a recent art exhibit at Tate Britain which features the individual work of various artists responding to Chris [...]

Slip into 340g of superb Scandinavian engineering. As well as being aesthetically ‘fly,’ Gram sneakers are each wittily named by their own weight. The Stockholm-based team behind the brand combine modern materials with classic sneaker style to create a unique shoe that never walks unnoticed.
