I’ve always marveled at Greg Harrison’s mezzotint prints. He is one of a small number of Australian artists specialising in this probably the most painstaking printmaking technique. His strange animals, mythological characters and landscapes create a fantastical world where Durer’s Rhino turned 3D and Medusa is in the city.

This Boy in the Clouds poster print by Eleanor Wood is printed on 260gsm acid-free coated matte stock and is A3 size. Wood is a recently graduated illustrator who lives in Brighton, England. She has a penchant for all things old, dusty and outdated, and likes to create strange and surreal imagined scenes using salvaged materials.

Frank Stockton finally has some great prints for sale through Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra. These are reproductions of some pretty racy images he did for Penthouse awhile back. Who says the guys are just reading those mags for the photos?

Ok, so I’m speaking from first-hand perspective here because as I type on this warm morning, with the faintest slither of sun creeping its way through the privacy blinds in my living room, I’m wearing the very same t shirt that the dude in this photo is wearing. Yup, the same damn one. Perhaps I’m not looking quite as groomed as he is, but hey, it’s a start. Australian fashion label Das Monk is my new favourite t shirt label and this t shirt is more comfortable to wear that a thousand pairs of Ozone socks. Das Monk? Yes it is.
I’m big on floral prints, which explains why I’m so attracted to the new Winter Kate 2011 Spring collection by Nicole Richie. The line revolves around bright flowery patterns inspired by the 70s to create a chic Bohemian look. It’s all style and no haughtiness.
I love this image by Rhea Garen because of the mix of reality and fantasy. The scene of a small cottage-like house in the woods immediately brings me back to some of my favorite childhood stories, like Hansel and Gretel or Sleeping Beauty. I feel like this could have been the woodcutter’s home, or the hide-out where Sleeping Beauty was taken by the three fairies, Flora, Fauna and Merriweather. There is a certain whimsy yet depth, candor yet mystery, all present in this one shot.
Seldom has black humour been done so well. On the surface, this film about the everyday lives of some unusually mundane characters, sounds extraordinarily boring. But it is instead a cutting comment on the absurdity and drudgery of everyday life. The characters try to break out or change their lives without success, and the results are bleak and hilarious. This gourmet paint is made by only two dedicated paint makers without fillers, just pigment and oil, like it should be. There is only one store that sells it and it is run out of the Elisabeth Foundation for the Arts building in Chelsea, New York. They have a table set up there so you can play with and mix any of the colours together to see its effects. I usually go to pick one tube up and hang around asking questions to one half of the duo, Gail, and usually leave with five tubes, having learned a lot about the history and the process behind each colour.
Fans of Australian buzzsaw rock trio, The Vines, might like to check out our sister site, My Secret Playlist, where drummer Hamish Rosser has written about eight songs he’s digging right now. There’s some interesting choices in there including The Strokes, James Brown, and, gulp, Joan Jett.

The problem with awesome things like these pencils made out of recycled newspaper is that you almost don’t want to use them.
Mathematics? Leave me out. Fashematics? Now you’re talking! This gem of a site is a runway equation that adds up to a whole lot of wonderful.

Set up in 2011, Rebel Unlit is a printing collaboration between London based Artists Neil Butler and Shanney Mulcahy. They make short run screen-printed t-shirts and limited edition prints from their studio in East London. All the t shirts are fair traded and printed by hand and, as a result, each one is unique.
