Translocation, a book by multi-award winning photographer George Logan, is a collection of wonderful pictures. This work seems to have a funny appearance but the real meaning of this project is to let people know how important it is to eliminate suffering and preserve wildlife in its free and wild state. To complete Translocation, Logan had the opportunity to travel across the world – Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa – photographing wild animals in their natural habitats, discovering new places, and meeting amazing creatures. The Afro-Scottish photographer makes us reflect on the repercussions of human action on the natural environment and on the animal’s lives themselves.

Samuel Burns is master of creating moody, minimalist landscapes. Using a large format camera, he chooses perfectly baren areas and shoots them using a long-exposure process to give them a more blurry, dream-like feel. Beginning with setting up his old-fashioned camera on a tripod, adjusting the dials, and triggering the shutter, the entire process may take up to eight hours. The results are well worth the wait. Each shot is achingly lonely and pristine.

In case you don’t know who the late Storm Thorgerson was, just know he was the master mind behind the iconic rainbow prism on the cover of Pink Floyd’s album, The Dark Side of the Moon. Best known for his harsh collages, Thorgerson lead the way in album art, using eye catching art instead of mundane pictures of the band, and creating album covers for bands such as Led Zeppelin, Genesis, the Cranberries, Styx, Phish, and Muse. His photography is even more surreal because he actually sets up the shots in real life. For Pink floyd’s album, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, he set up 700 iron hospital beds on a beach and placed them in rows stretching out to the horizon.

I don’t love everything Sagmeister and Walsh come up with, but I love this type driven add they made for Azone, a luxury department store. Everything feels to weightless and majestic. Check out the video here to see how they achieved the illusions.

I started Indisposable Concept as a bit of a rebellion to the throwaway culture surrounding digital imagery, and as a way to encourage people to acknowledge and embrace the everyday beauty that exists in their lives, to capture and share the stuff that matters and makes it unique. We ask participants to document their life using one roll of film from one disposable camera over a week, and then we feature the shots on our site and via our social channels.

Most of us have been lucky enough to experience the last bastion of analogue photography before digital cameras and smartphones took over. Those born from 2000 onwards will never know the dizzy highs of a well-composed image and the crushing lows of non-deliberate oversaturation.

With the increasing technology and many with a decent camera at the convenience of their mobiles, almost everyone can claim to be a ‘photographer’. It is in this digital world that Paulius Rudokas challenges this orthodox. At only 18 years old, he is unlike many of his age; prefering to use black and white film and develops and prints his photographs in his bedroom (he is not yet able to get a dark room). He believes that film forces the photographer to make every shot matter which is reflected in his prints; though not perfect, often filled with charming character.

The bizarre combination of freezing cold winter and active volcanos are married together in these stunning photos by Denis Budko. The two seemingly opposite elements are found existing harmoniously in the cave of the far east peninsula known Kamchatka in Russia. Until 1991, the caves were strictly off limits to foreigners. But ever since the fall of the Soviet Union, fantastic natural wonders like this have been shared with the rest of the world.

Based out of Denver, Colorado, Nick Sparks is an editorial and art photographer. After picking up a film camera at age 20 and shooting landscapes on Kodak Tri-x film for a few years, Sparks decided to ditch film and start shooting editorial work using digital format.
