What a beauty of a lamp. Designed by Max Gunawan, the Lumio looks like a hard-bound book at first glance, but unfolds to glow and illuminate any space it is in. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery fuels the light that beams out of its translucent accordian-like pages. We just love the idea that books enlighten minds.
Luke Veneri’s 3D-printed Nuke Lamp is a fantastical 3D-printed creation for the home, which, as its name suggests, is a lamp that looks like a mushroom cloud. Of course, with its $1,400 or so price tag, we get the sense that nuclear explosions are costly.
These Light Container pendant lamps by designer Martín Azúa may just be black metal baskets that hold up diffused glass lightbulbs. Still, they are so sleek, it creates a magical illusion of orbs of light being scooped up in wireframes. It all looks suitably impressive. We are obviously impressed.

German designer Simon Frambach has come to the rescue. Introducing the Soft Light. It’s a portable, lightweight, and durable lamp that also serves as a comfortable and squishy […]
Designer Ed Chew has created these cool looking lamps using drink packets that are unfolded and then refolded into hexagonal and pentagonal sections. They reflect shadows and patterns on the surfaces around them, and can be arranged into a geodesic sphere or any other desired shape. Perfect for those of us who are environmentally conscious.
Satoshi Itasaka’s Sun Rising Lamp props a LED lamp against a black sculpture (not sure if this can also double up as a bench) to create what looks like sunrise against a mountainous landscape. The lamp is inspired by the Japanese tradition of worshipping at sunrise during the beginning of the year, and a reminder to ‘change your daily action of turning on the light into meaningful ones’. Full of zen, this lamp.
A more appropriate name for this shiny sparkling piece of illuminating design would probably be an Aviator Lamp, because that’s what this is: a light bulb surrounded by forty pairs of mirrored aviator sun glasses, which cast a kaleidoscope of shadows when the lamp is lit. This Celebrity Lamp may lack subtlety, but it makes […]
