When I first saw the freakishly long, beaded Ghostdancer earrings on a friend of mine, I was shocked to actually be looking at something undoubtedly inspired by Native American art that didn’t actually insult someone’s culture.

To see an artisan reclaiming the tradition of taking hours, days or even weeks to make a single piece of jewelry is inspiring, and somehow wakes up a part of me to remember the importance of putting respect and care into everything we create.

Gone are the days when I could wink at you with ‘come hither’ eyes so you’ll see the intention of my emotions. Finnish designers, Chao and Erro jewelry have interpreted the long lost art of human-to-human emotional connection with their line of emoticon jewelry.
We got our hands on a Kinekt Gear Ring the other day and haven’t stopped playing with it since. In a good way, of course. The Gear Ring, which is made from high quality matte stainless steel, features six micro-precision gears that turn in unison when the outer rims are spun. It’s a blast. And it looks great on the hand, too. As my wife will now attest.
