Wearable fairytales in strong colors to be hung on your body or on the wall. Oslo-based jewellery artist Anna Talbot is inspired by wolves, deer, forests and fairytale creatures. She creates big, three dimensional jewellery built layer by layer in adonised aluminium, wood veneer, brass, gilding metal and silver.

Edenborough Evans is my favourite jewellery designer for 2011. Designer Anna Cowan uses handmade wax formations and old fashioned seal stamps to create the moulds as part of her collection. The result is striking pieces which mimic flow and movement.

East London-based costume and jewellery designer Johanne Bertaux-Strenna loves nothing more than to repurpose materials in a bid to create cool, original and environmentally friendly items for the discerning traveller. For the Travel Collection, she has used maps and natural materials to create upcycled jewellery with a twist.

For three weeks in October this year, Sydney’s Salerno Gallery will light up with colour. 10 girls. 10 colours. is a vibrant exploration of the subjective implications of ten randomly assigned colours. The artists will navigate diverse themes, from sensory perception and memory to cultural contexts and history. The resulting work will be thoughtful, vivid and provocative. All of the work will be available for purchase.

The Pastie Project is an initiative by young jewellery designer, Leah Ball, with the premise of creating ‘couture nipple covers, made of precious metals and jewels’. Hmm, hmm. She’s currently looking for funding for the project through Kickstarter.

We got our hands on a Kinekt Gear Ring the other day and haven’t stopped playing with it since. In a good way, of course. The Gear Ring, which is made from high quality matte stainless steel, features six micro-precision gears that turn in unison when the outer rims are spun. It’s a blast. And it looks great on the hand, too. As my wife will now attest.

Shops that stock independent local labels in tandem with mainstream brands receive brownie points from me. Local Derby, my new-found treasure on Newtown’s iconic King Street Strip, sell the cutest, funkiest and most unusual accessories I’ve seen in a while. I’m fond of the quirky jewellery by Kristy’s Jewels and the more renowned Icon Brand’s pieces, in particular. But sorry kids, I already acquired that Hail Mary Ring.

This necklace has been handmade in Italy by Paola Volpi. No longer are zips merely a functioning necessity for apparel, this unique necklace has been created from original gold zippers and thick transparent acrylic threading.

These rings are handmade in Italy by Ashanti Raffaele Cinzio and come in a set of three, shaped flat and polished in a brushed finish. One sterling silver, one yellow bronze and one rose bronze. The rings individually measure 2mm height on the thin side and raise gradually around the ring to a height of 50mm to the feature side. As a set, the total band width consistently measures 7mm.

Using Kyoko Hashimoto’s popular design, these acrylic earrings are made with unique hand formed sterling silver sleepers that make them light enough for everyday wear. Part of Kyoko’s collection, I Blame the Uni, (pronounced ‘oo-nee’, the Japanese name for sea urchin) and inspired by her experiences in the underground club scene of Tokyo.

This beautiful necklace was handmade in Italy by Anna Lodi, who designed each original necklace from original Italian sheet music. She has adopted a paper-mache technique to create each bead, which is encapsulated by transparent glass-based resin.

I’ve always been an avid follower of the Comfort Station brand in Cheshire St, London, so I decided to pop in on Sunday to have a look at their new collection. It’s unique and different, featuring railway tracks and my favourite barometer necklaces, where you can rate the way you, or someone you’ve just met, is feeling, with indications of stormy, fair and excellent.
