In late 80s and early 90s, the Illustrated Laser Ray and futuristic grids aesthetic was a sensation, years before it began to diminish abruptly. I’ve just returned from a well earned holiday at Heron Island, a natural coral cay off the coast of Queensland. We arrived after a two hour boat trip from Gladstone, and departed with a 30 minute helicopter trip. We walked around the island most days, the trip taking a leisurely fifteen minutes. Read more

Pre-eminent Norwegian Viking metal band Enslaved has evolved over the years from a straight-forward black metal band into a moody, post-rock outfit without completely abandoning their roots. Their last few albums have seen a shift towards English lyrics, sweeping and majestic instrumentals, and diverse influences — everything from Pink Floyd and ’70s prog and psych rock to ’80s goth and shoegaze pop.
