Munich-based ad agency Serviceplan Health & Life created this calendar to promote an online non-smoking program for AOK Health Insurance. The calendar features typographic illustrations that show how a former smoker’s lungs can go from black to clear over the course over a year. This calendar is a creative way to illustrate a serious issue.

For guys who regularly fumble over bra clasps, German creative agency Serviceplan created the bra calendar for men’s magazine FHM so they can get some daily practice setting the date, day of the week and month with bra fastenings and can get better and better at undoing the damn bra. Calendar model pin-ups in outrageous undergarments, striking provocative poses next to classic cars. Sounds like your usual girlie calendar, until you realise these models aren’t women, or even models for that matter, but your regular Joe-next-door. Its creator Janet Schurmeyer teamed up with a photographer for the shoot, photographing mostly friends ‘not wearing the most attractive underwear, whatever it is they feel comfortable in’. It’s apparently a runaway hit in Germany.

I am not one to have a calendar hanging on any wall anywhere in my house but these Poladariums are a must-have for 2012. Only 88mm x 108mm, they feature 366 Polaroids taken by various artists and there is a little inscription on the back of each page with more information. These tear-off calenders are published by Seltmann & Söhne in Germany but available worldwide.

Italian coffee, vivid romance, beautiful people, and jaw-dropping scenery. Welcome to the 2011 Lavazza calendar, a lavish display of java-inspired opulence from Italy’s 100-year-old coffee company. This year’s calendar showcases the work of American Mark Seliger, the former Rolling Stone photographer who’s now one of the most coveted celebrity snappers in Hollywood.

Each of the calendar’s six highly stylized images features a couple in a different Italian setting — lounging by the beach in Capri, dozing under a haystack in Tuscany, kissing in the middle of a plaza in Florence. Look carefully: a coffee cup also turns up in every picture, but you might not spot it at first glance.

If you haven’t already bought a calendar for 2011, this one is definitely worth a look. Its theme is ‘falling in love in Italy’. The year may still be young, but we’re already head over heels.
