It all started when Pam came across an old ad from the 19th century in which a man was hoping to find his ’bright, particular star’. He wrote a sweet personal ad for love and put it in the newspaper, much like people use eHarmony for today. Ever since Pam found that one strange ad, she’s kept a blog of other similarly funny, strange, poignant, or just plain bizarre personal ads from the 19th century. The one that really stuck out to me was written by a widow with a singe child. She is advertising in hopes of finding a strong protector to marry.

It’s amazing what kind of bold faced lies come out of designer’s mouths. Call it designer slang, jargon, or terms of the trade, but we all know it’s bullshit. This is a comprehensive collection of only the best design jargon bullshit. It’s a good laugh if nothing else. One of my favorites is the ridiculous phrase used to sell the Instagram logo. The blog describes itself with this phrase: ‘This blog ensures focus and consensus whilst encouraging maximum creative flexibility across multiple touchpoints’. It’s just more jargon bullshit from the masters themselves.

Emily Webber loves the shops of London. But not for the reason you might expect. Webber is no shopoholic. She just happens to love the way all the store fronts look. So she started the blog called London Shop Fronts . Take a look at the wide variety of stores and letters found in London. And don’t forget to order your favorite images to decorate your walls with.

But when he pointed out the ridiculousness of the opening panel to a recent Rex Morgan, M.D. one of his readers really rose to the occasion and created the Rexifier, adding the good doctor to any daily strip. Ziggy finally got funny.

It’s hard to stop browsing this blog: learn about herbs, spices and vegetables and how they can make you feel better physically. It’s healthy advice combined with ancient words of wisdom, quotes from legends and lots of stuff about being human in general. They even have a good online store where you can order several of the items they write about. My take on life is that you should always evolve and try to be a better person – to others and to yourself. Ask yourself difficult questions and always travel never arrive.

It’s great to reminisce about this era of movie making, and at the same time, it’s scary to see how dated things have become!
