Now comes this: Turntable Rider, designed by interaction artist Toshiyuki Sugai, converts your bike into a live DJ console. Really? Really. So how does it work? Well, you attach sticks to the wheels, which then become a ‘moving jog dial’; the handbrakes become sound pads; and the handlebars contain a crossfader. It was created as a way to encourage bike sharing in crowded Japan, but if they receive more than 5,900 Facebook Fans, they’ll actually mass produce it for the rest of us to salivate over. Sweeeeeettt!

Ok, so this one doesn’t quite match the bike that plays vinyl while you ride, but it’s a very cool look all the same. Furniture designer Arnolt van Der Sman created this retro-styled bike from solid beech and ash, spending some 80 hours working on this one of a kind project. Brilliant.

The amazing bike featured on the Escort album cover is the creation of the Future Shock Bike Crew out of Queens. You can hear this thing approach from MANY blocks away. It’s a BMX bike with a steel armature added that hold their huge handcrafted speakerboxes complete with top notch car stereo parts. It’s actually even louder than it looks, and there’s even a DVD player. When we got wind of this, we knew that we had to use it on our album cover. And I promise the album sounds as good as the cover.

The crops we feed cows with these days are literally fertilized with fossil fuels. Therefore, we essentially feed cows gasoline. We might as well ride them like motorcycles like this amazing sculpture by Billie Grace Lynn: it’s actually a human powered bicycle, but since all the food we eat is fertilized by chemical fertilizers, we are actually a form of combustion engine.

Wolfies Cycles epitomise all that is stylish, quirky and unique on two wheels. A handpicked collection of vintage classic bicycles, spanning trends from 1895 to 1990, with a particular focus on the 1940′s and 50′s, Wolfies Cycles is the new name in cycling cool.

The bikes have been sourced and imported from private collectors, dusty attics and backyards and have been lovingly restored to provide buyers with an authentic retro experience. Wolfies Cycles launches at a pop-up store at blank_space gallery between April 16 and 29.
