I had a delectable time at the Cook. Eat. Drink. Live foodie event in New York a few weeks back, sampling the wares of an eclectic range of goodies, eating way too much chocolate (though, really, how much is way too much?), and drinking enough wine to fill up the belly of a small, albeit plump, hamster. And I came out of the experience, the lip-smackingly, hip-shakingly fun experience, with just one simple conclusion: the world needs more of these events, where the only objective is to stuff your gullet and drink, drink, drink. Anke Weckmann was born in Hannover and moved to London in 2001. Apart from drawing, her favourite things in the world are ‘black ink, Harriet the Spy, small birds, stripey socks, sketchbooks, elderflower cordial, spring and potatoes’.

Pasadena, California artist, Jason Redwood, creates luminous, thickly textured artwork and illustrations that practically leap off the page with their bright colours and three dimensional layering. Read more

Through a comprehensive recording of their lives it reminds us that, when examining anything in detail, there is no such thing as a cliché. Herzog and de Meuron, the Swiss architects, have led the way with this re-use of the existing building fabric of CaixaForum in Madrid. Rather than being slavish to the existing openings, the building has been cut away for a contemporary practicality. We think this is an example of heritage not getting in the way of progress. Check out a similar concept of a previous post re-using the city fabric, where we were dreaming of such thing.
