I think I’ve found a happy medium: to bring leather lovers and nature huggers to a united circle of hand-holds and peace chants. Since 2006, Clare Vivier has produced the goods that marry French glamour with LA cool. The best news is that Vivier’s design is as good as her social conscience, focusing without compromise on ethical manufacturing processes. Even better news is word of the collaboration between Vivier and Wren. This pairing gives a nod to timelessness with a beautifully soft, buttery leather exterior, lined with a bold aesthetic kick of Wren’s celestial print.

It was finally started on December 26th and then sent off completed the next day. It was a great exercise in having to let some things go. That’s twenty-four hours out the door complete, old school style. That’s how records used to be made. Motown, baby, MOTOWN!’ We have the song for free download in our Music Download section [psst, it's in the third column of the site]

As part of the Robin Hood Foundation, a charity organization whose mission it is to fight poverty in New York City, Lost At E Minor contributor and in-demand illustrator in her own right, Yuko Shimizu — in collaboration with designer Stefan Sagmeister — recently completed an eleven panel mural at PS96 in The Bronx.

We spoke to Yuko about the project, which took two and a half years to finish, and asked her how she got involved with it in the first place: ‘I had been admiring Stefan Sagmeister’s work and, even more so, his work philosophy, for a long time. So when he got hired to create a mural in a public school library, he thought it should be illustrated. I don’t know how he picked me, but he contacted me to work with him. How can I say no to my hero? Also, after working for a while in the field of art, most of us start thinking, “how can we give back using our skills?” This project gave me a good answer. Often times, a rewarding feeling comes more with charity work than with payment’.

Fitting Forward is a new Hamburg based Concept-Store which shows what simmers secretly behind the scenes. Every two months a new headstrong theme world will evolve out of a composition of fashion, product, accessories and illustration. The platform of the shop is a deep black lacquered room-in-room installation. A three dimensional walk-in sketchbook provides space for different artists and illustrators to draw themes onto the walls, ceiling and floor. The shop has a partnership with Edding, the pencil company, so they can change the styles easily to suit the themes. Aforestdesign joined Fitting Forward in its first theme: The TalenTierT – The Zoo Of Uniqueness, which was launched at the beginning of December. The first theme is about weird creatures, wondrous animals and bewildering absurdity. In the zoo of uniqueness you will find elephant-jumpers, parrot-jackets, lonely-wolf-lamps and bunny-mask-broochs, all gathered under the absurd-species-protection-program.
