Our friends at the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective are having a party at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on July 17 which will feature a screening of twenty films about the end of the world shot and edited by Collective members, followed by a live performance from the awesome Brooklyn-based band, the Midnight Masses.
Italian brand Brionvega has resurrected the classy Radiofonografio piece first created in 1965. The updated version is just like the original turntable/radio unit, but also has a CD/DVD player.
Embroidery sets me aflutter, especially when the medium mixes craft with fine art. I particularly love Anna Hendrick’s work, where whimsical thread drawings meets references to pop culture and cult classics. Read more

Days Off is an incredibly catchy but smart punk band from Chicago. While they’re the best of what pop music through the ages has to offer, they’re by no means pop-punk. As infectious as their hooks and choruses are, there are enough off-kilter rhythms and complex guitar work to give their music a layered feel, putting them into a category all their own.
