Very much neglected in the shadow of its siblings — the famous giant in the Bronx and the high profile zoo in Central Park — Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Zoo deserves much more credit than it gets. Sure, it’s small. But that just means you can see everything in a spare hour while taking a stroll in the park. And it only costs $6. I also really like that the snack bar and gift shop consist of a handful of vending machines ready to sell you a weird microwave pizza or a stuffed Meerkat. Read more
Christine Young’s work looks like doodles in a high-school student’s Trapper Keeper. She definitely got a lot from doing blind contour exercises in art class.
Serena Malyon, a student at the Alberta College of Art and Design, used Photoshop to simulate a tilt-shift effect on paintings by Vincent Van Gogh. Pretty darn cool. Read more

As a non-coffee drinker, I’m not going to rant about the coffee. I’ve heard, though, that the coffee is damn good. But I am going to talk about something else: food. Oh. My. God. Sydney’s Single Origin cafe have this awesome meatloaf sandwich and a raft of sourdoughs and prosciutto and roast lamb and chevre and chunky steak pies and yogurt with compote and four-cheese toasties and baked beans and … oh! Don’t forget Karlie’s special homemade lemonade! Karlie is always in the house so you know that it doesn’t come from a can and arrives at your table with that sour tang that reminds you of the annual Royal Easter Show. Pitched as ‘Ulterior Motives in Contemporary Art’, Disorder Disorder is running until November 14 at Penrith Regional Gallery. It’ll be well worth the trip out west of Sydney: the Australian, Japanese, American and European cast reads like a warriors of street art roundup and includes Mike Giant, Ed Templeton, Anthony Lister [artwork above], Ozzie Wright, and Jonathan Zawada. Baltimore Mural by Josh Van Horne
My friend Josh Van Horne, a local Baltimore artist, did this amazing mural in our neighborhood that depicts the history of this warehouse-laden area.
