My first impulse, when I’m staring at a blank canvas or sheet of paper, is always to draw or paint a face. I think this is pretty elemental, since faces are pretty much how we primarily interface with each other. Brian Kokoska also seems to have the same impulse, creating terrifying, perverted, and whimsical figures with mask-like mugs in his images.
FOR CREATIVE INSPIRATION
In partnership with our friends at Optus, we present the third in a three part Lost At E Minor video series that puts the spotlight on some young, handpicked Australian creatives, doing inspirational things within their chosen fields. Episode Three features 16-year old Melbourne-based producer, Gab Strum (aka Japanese Wallpaper), who has racked up thousands of plays over the past year or so via a number of well-blogged remixes ranging from City Calm Down and The Townhouses to bootlegs of The xx and Bon Iver.
