Inventive, quirky, and a creative force in the Canadian wine industry: this is Blasted Church Vineyards. Taking its name and imagery from the true story of a mining era church that was dismantled by dynamite then moved to town where the vineyard now lies, this small estate winery is a true tour de force. The whimsical cartoon like design, originally developed by the cool cats at Vancouver-based marketing and design shop Brandever Strategy, reinvented the vineyard a few years back, turning Blasted Church into one of Canada’s most celebrated wineries. Pugz Luv Beats is halfway between an iPad game and a musical instrument. As you send your pups running around harvesting some love for themselves, they start making different beats. It’s easy to get distracted from playing the game and lose myself in making jams.
This clip had such an impact on me when it first came out, back in the day. There’s just something so poignant about the idea that some people you pass on the street everyday have a little bit more insight into their world — our world — than we could ever imagine. It’s beautiful and confronting, and it’s all set to the most wonderfully evocative music.

Let them sing it for you is a web widget that allows you to type in a sentence which is then played back using the same words culled from a library of popular songs. For instance if you type the word “I” it will play Chris Isaak singing that word in the song Wicked Games. If a word cannot be found, you can enter a song which contains the missing word and expand the library.
The frontman for Sydney trailblazers, Paper Scissors, has just dropped his first solo EP under the alias of Pork Pies, and it’s an absolute beaut. Like the Paper Scissors’ more low-key numbers, there’s a real feeling of raw nostalgia running through the record. Jai Pyne’s distinctive vocals linger on your eardrums for a while after they’ve ceased, anchored down by a poignancy and sense of longing.

Sometime in 2010, the folks behind Dirty Dishes had the slightly silly idea of using cheeky vintage photos and putting them on dinner plates. After doing lots of research, talking to lots of people, and receiving loads of positive feedback, they wondered if this idea was so silly after all. And thus Dirty Dishes was born. Read more
