Nothing beats a good black and white drawing, and Spanish artist Martin Romero does it better than most. He’s got a nice variety of stuff on his site, from childrens books, to editorial, to some great comics. Be sure not to miss his Club of the Gentile for some extra lovely drawings and a good laugh to boot.
In New York-based tattoo artist Amanda Wachob’s hands, a limb, chest, neck or back is not so much a body part as a very real — and permanent — canvas on which to create her wistful, soft and decorative artwork. Her tattoo work is beautifully original, with not a skull or crossbone (or ‘Hey Mum’, for that measure) in sight. Read more

Last week when the 2008 ARIA nominations were released, I was so happy to see the recognition of Melbourne’s Eddy Current Suppression Ring. Their album Primary Colours is pure, unadulterated Aussie rock, standing out from the numerous electro releases we’ve had this year. The band manages to capture that wonderful pub-vibe without any pretension or tragic nostalgia. Primary Colours speaks to people who still seek an existence that is all about wearing ripped jeans, loitering and punching people in the face … not in a violent way, but because your fist flailed in that direction while you were thrashing around front of stage.
These Internal Organ Keds by Dynomoose remind me of the posters in front of Chinese foot massage places that show how different parts of the foot correspond to an organ in the body.
