It seems as though the reign of the Australian hipster has reached its final frontier: sport. Thanks to a new ‘anti-sport’ called Bike Polo, the cool kids’ societal domination is no longer limited to newly gentrified suburbs, trendy haircuts and longnecks in paper bags.

No doubt a consequence of the high fixie-owning percentile within the hipsters community, these cats have taken the horsies out of polo to create a fun, unisex team sport for cycling enthusiasts. All jokes aside, this progression from horses to bikes does actually make sense. However, since it’s the hipsters, we fear that the third gen polo sport may become Jazz Polo.

In 2007, a group of New York boys brought bike polo over to London’s Brick Lane and it’s been taking a life of its own ever since. Historically, this hardcourt sport began in 1891 and even got a start at the 1908 Olympics.
