Tinkering with nothing more than an exacto knife, some packing tape and plastic sheets, it takes wrapping his work around street lamps to see the pieces in all their glory as the complex layers of slicing and shading formations take their full effect.

To date, he’s spread the tape love around the globe with his stickers and full scale art pieces hanging around the likes of Toronto, Cologne, Berlin and Hamburg and is spreading the tape love with every passing week.

What would you expect them to be waiting to buy: Frankfurters? Sauerkraut? A flotilla’s worth of German beer?

Could be, but not if you’ve been lucky enough to stumble upon the Vatos Tacos truck. In that case, jump in the line yourself and start licking your chops for the best Mexican fare this side of the Eiffel Tower.

The sights and sounds of Mexico may be thousands of miles away, but the country’s bold, spicy flavors can be found right here at Vatos Tacos. Just try the Macho Taco: two beef tacos topped with sautéed onions and habanero peppers, and you’ll see what we mean.

Looking for someone to hug in gratitude? That would be Billy Davis, a Texas native who had the brilliant idea of opening a taco truck in his newfound German home. All we can say is Dankeschön, amigo. Dankeschön.

This time around, the magic has turned up in Berlin, in the form of the Mad Potter ceramic exhibition — a Wonderland design-fest worthy of the trippiest tea party.

Brought to you by ‘the Vivienne Westwood of tableware’ The New English, a cutting-edge ceramics company based in the UK, the Mad Potter collection features the highest quality cups, saucers, teapots, milk jugs, and plates – all dressed up with designs from some eerily talented artists.

Just take a look at the plates: there’s the girl in the mirror plate, the cat-headed man plate, the creepy skull plate, and finally — our personal favorite — the goth goldfish plate, from designer Nanami Cowdroy.

Want one for your next tea party? There are only ten pieces of each design, so you’d better act fast – or risk getting left behind like the Cheshire cat’s grin.

We checked in with her to ask a few questions about her music and her style. [Listen to her new single Doorway at the end of the interview]

What were some of the inspirations for this album, W?
‘I wanted to make music that I didn’t know yet, that was new to me. I worked for a long time on the production and produced a specific sonic style for the record using instruments such as saxophone, percussion and strings. I’d say that my inspiration for this record comes from a strong passion for certain instruments and sounds and I sculpt songs using that obsession’.

I read that you are working on a new prosthetic nose. Where did this idea come from and is this something you wear only for shows?
‘The idea for the prosthetic facial extension was to make visual what I was producing in the music, especially with the production on my vocals. I bought some face putty from a theater store and started to add it to my brow and something interesting happened: it was almost like the voice on the record was coming alive. You’ll have too come to the live show to see if I’m wearing the prosthetic or not’.

You have such a unique style. Where do you find your clothes?
‘The only time I think seriously about clothes is when I’m preparing the live show, and for this, I recycle a lot of old clothes and customize them for stage. For everyday clothing, I wear mostly C&A’.

What is an item of clothing you would not be caught dead wearing?
‘I’m probably wearing it’!

What do you consider the perfect day in Berlin?
‘A day in my studio, and then if it’s summer, a swim at the lakes with friends after work’.

When do you get the best ideas for songs?
‘The best ideas come just when you think nothing is working, then suddenly you hit on upon something interesting and end up staying in the studio all night until it’s finished!’

What did you have for breakfast this morning?
‘I had brunch with friends at Südblock in X-berg’.

Until June 29, anyone can become a star in the new ‘It’s Personal’ campaign and appear live on Germany’s largest video screen, which is on the famous Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard in Berlin. Even better, every participant has the opportunity to win their own personal MINI model from the advert. Fun!

How does it work? Make your way to the “MINI Photo Box” on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, take a photo, choose your favourite MINI, and appear immediately on the huge video screen.

Once inside the photo booth, participants will put on brightly-coloured headphones and then choose their favourite MINI Family model with side mirrors of a matching colour. Four colours and four MINI Family models to choose from: MINI Hatch, MINI Convertible, MINI Clubman, and MINI Countryman. Then the image is sent to the huge 104 m² video screen, together with the personalized MINI model.

But you don’t have to be in Berlin to be a part of this. Join in via a Facebook app. Use your webcam to take a photo of yourself wearing virtual headphones. Your photos will then be shown on the large screen in Berlin. To complete the loop, the images on the video screen will also be streamed live on the Internet and snapshots of the greatest moments will be made available on Facebook so users can share them with friends.

The lucky winner will receive their MINI model, including tailor-made side mirrors in his or her favourite colour. Err, we’re entering now. Wink wink.
We all still remember those famous four photos, of which at least one had to be thrown away because you either weren’t properly prepared when the release initiated or your face wasn’t doing what it was supposed to.

Yes, how we have missed the charm of those ‘hilariously gone wrong’ pictures! Thankfully, the Photoautomat people are taking care of this loss. In their blog, they are collecting the residue and putting it together artistically for the ages.

This is the story of Ignatz Nacher. In 1905, Nacher invented the pasteurization of beer, which was followed by the opening up of his own brewery in Berlin. And not just any brewery; here, the first production of the now famous Pilsner beer was celebrated. But, being German and Jewish, the Nazis claimed it for the regime and Nacher eventually died poor in Switzerland, while the brewery helped fund the war. It’s not a real happy story.

But, a group of artists in Berlin are looking to breathe new life into Nacher’s legacy – at least for one night. Thanks to the HomeBase Project art group, Ignatz Bier — a special, artisanal brew — will see a limited launch this weekend in Berlin. Beer tastings, exhibitions, and art installations are set to take place on the site of the pre-war brewery, which is today a year-round art and cultural center that will soon house the HomeBase Lab. The event aims to honor Nacher with artistic redemption, while celebrating the future of the building as a space to promote social responsibility through the arts. Well, prost to that!
