TIME Magazine recently picked out some choice shots from the massive influx of NCAA basketball action we’ve seen all March, distilling these into what essentially seems like ballet moves. Very cool.

I never use this term but Beyond Ballet Russes, the English National Ballet’s show in honour of Sergei Diaghilev’s legacy, was truly mesmerizing. I watched Programme 1 at the National Opera earlier this year and my enthusiasm is focused on ENB’s versions of the legendary choreographies, L’après-midi d’un faune, and The Rite of Spring by Vaslav Nijinsky. Beautiful and in-depth reworkings of these old and controversial works, the latter one accompanied by Stravisky’s breathtaking score.

Not quite Star Wars, not quite French, not quite ballet, and not quite disco. Bet you never knew Darth Vadar and 3PO ever had a feud. Or used The Force to play scissors, paper, stone. Warning: you’ll need to have a very high threshold for silliness to enjoy this without a hint of irony.

I was wandering around the permanent collection at the Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart, which is really quite impressive — they have works from almost every important Western artist you can think of. The room devoted to Bauhaus painter, sculptor, and dancer Oskar Schlemmer was particularly striking, with an entire display of the costumes for his ‘Triadic Ballet’. I could barely believe the pieces were meant to be worn, with their various features and bulbous shapes impeding the dancers’ normal movement. I would love to see this performance replicated, maybe with a duplicate set of costumes.
