Sydney-based design company Babekuhl was established in 2003 by a group of friends with their ears to the ground and their heads in the clouds. It’s kinda fitting then that their first vinyl toy [above] should be called Babu Cloud. Originally from Northern California, Amber Gray is now based in Manhattan, where she shoots for magazines such as Dansk, FQ, and Trace. Of her photography, she says: ‘I like to portray strong, vexing characters that have something more behind their gaze. I’m very inspired by music and the dramatic new wave characters of my childhood who conjured so many bizarre fantasies that still fuel my imagination to this day’.

Artist Oliver Voss installed this sculpture of a giant, bathing woman in Hamburg’s Binnenalster, an artificial lake in the middle of the city. Some residents are baffled by it, but luckily for them, the installation isn’t permanent.

Improv Everywhere strikes again with a spontaneous musical in a Los Angeles mall. Wireless microphones hooked up to the mall’s PA system ensured the feeding masses didn’t slip into Cinnabon-induced comas until after the show was over. Note especially the angry dude in sunglasses at about 2:51 — apparently he thinks nothing can ever top Rent.

The Danes are renowned for their considered and subtle design. However, in these times of change, they must feel they need something with this selection of a bridge building as the winner of a recent architectural competition in Denmark. The American architect Steven Holl designed this building with a pedestrian bridge that links two sides of the harbour in the distinctly low-rise Copenhagen. Read more
