It’s happened to the best of us – we have a bit too much fun on a night out and we miss the train. Or, we’re about to catch the train but we feel too under-the-weather to sit in a rattling carriage for an hour ’til we arrive home. So Japan came up with a brilliant idea: the capsule hotel.
Beijing might be known for its high rise buildings and millions of residents but below this enormous city you’ll find an underground world that’s home to around 1 million residents. Located in basements and former air-raid bunkers, these windowless rooms are home to people who can’t find ordinary accommodations above ground, or who are trying to save money in the big city.

In response to a challenging brief to inject life and character back into the brand, Smith and Milton delved deep into the Crabtree & Evelyn archives and found generations of beautiful hand-drawn illustrations, reworking them into an opulent wrapping to deliver stunning results.
