I just ran across this really cool music video from a band called CHLLNGR. The song is called Change and the video is co-directed by Chad Turner and Michael Todd. It’s an animated production that takes place somewhere within the solar system. There’s a guy in a spacecraft kind of hanging around and he’s suddenly attacked by a lady in a ship of her own. It’s very well done. I don’t much at all about CHLLNGR; the song sounds reggae inspired. I’ll have to hear some more of their work to know if this is a recurring theme or not.

Yippee! Canadian musician and artist Chad VanGaalen has released a new animated video, prior to the release of his fourth album, Diaper Island’, and it’s another hand-drawn masterpiece, literally dripping with bright colours and touching pathos. [check out Chad VanGaalen's video for J Mascis]

Directed by Bennet Pimpinella, the new video for Italian producers, The Bloody Beetroots, is about as animated as the group’s sound, which oscillates wildly between techno, punk, classical and baroque.
A tribute to the movie trilogy Back to the Future and that childhood fantasy, the Hoverboard, and designed in the style of a vintage comic book ad that promises the earth but delivers very little, this sexy five colour screen printed t shirt is by New Zealand-based label Cuppa t shirts.
Designer Chad Hagen makes retro-yet-contemporary info graphics as well as some great, minimalist illustrations using various printing methods and collage elements. Read more
Sufjan Stevens creates autistic music for introverts — soft, shy, naive, full of shadows, windows, and insecurities. Yet it all sounds slightly forced, his enigmatic songwriting as comforting as it is unsettling.
In a world filled with conceptual environmental architect, Lost in Paris, designed by R&Sie Architects for a so-called ‘urban witch’, is the definition of innovation and resourcefulness. The 1400 square foot home is engulfed by 1200 ferns and 300 glass-blown pods. A potion of rainwater and plant nutrients are fed to the pods, which in turn feed the ferns, drop by drop, during the year. And because the home is entirely covered with the plants, it is protected from outside weather and the interior temperature is regulated without use of traditional methods.

It goes without saying that Hip Hop has taken a few very low hits in the past decade. Thanks to the likes of 50 Cent and company, it accounts for around 40% of all music sold in America. It’s a huge industry. So where does that leave Hip Hop artists doing something a bit different? Lord T and Eloise wear wacky outfits, make crazy music and bring a whole lot of fun back into Hip Hop. What’s more, they’ve started a new genre called ‘Aristocrunk’. Watch out!

My friend Josh Van Horne, a local Baltimore artist, did this amazing mural in our neighborhood that depicts the history of this warehouse-laden area.
