Stephen Irwin (not to be confused with the Crocodile Hunter) made this great animated short which tells the story of an abused dog via a series of looping flipbooks.
Mikael Alacoque rips familiar and nostalgic objects to the core to create a new sinister image sculptured with abstract moulding techniques. His dead dogs, in particular, have fantastic symbolism, with ice-cream smashed on their little heads. Alacoque is certainly an artist for now and beyond.

Melbourne designer Lilian Darmono and her co-director partner Mungo Horey were asked by Red Bee to come up with some ideas for the new children’s channel, ABC 3 Australia. Date Night, starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey, is an hilarious comedy set in New York City. A case of mistaken identity turns a bored married couple’s attempt at a glamorous and romantic evening into something more thrilling and dangerous.
On my recent visit to Barcelona, my love for Animal Farm led me to the Plaça de Geroge Orwell. There I discovered Oviso. The tiny café features hand painted walls and low wooden benches, where inhabitants enjoy great coffee for €1 and discuss music, beer, photography and the hordes of tourists that bustle just beyond the quiet square.
