Pop-up aquarium displays over 5,000 goldfish

Japanese art aquarium producer Hidetomo Kimura designed decorative aquariums to hold over 5,000 goldfish. Tanks of various shapes and sizes are on display in Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall, but the most impressive tank is ‘Oiran’, which holds 1,000 goldfish. The aquariums are on display until September 24th, and visitors can view this incredible exhibit for 1,000 yen.

An Underwater World in a Telephone Booth

Benedetto Bufalino and Benoit Deseille have created little underwater worlds in old phone boxes. Of the project, they say: ‘With the advent of the mobile phone, the booth cabins are unused. We rediscovered this glass box to transform it into an urban aquarium full of coloured fish. This is an invitation to travel and to escape the daily city environment’. What a magical idea and a very calming piece of art to look at.
