Our friends over at Giant Robot are celebrating their fifteenth year of publishing their print magazine and subsequent expansion into retail shops and art galleries with a group show running at San Francisco’s GRSF until July 15. The exhibition features the work of Lydia Fong (Barry McGee), Kozyndan, Luke Chueh, Saelee Oh, Robert Bellm, Albert Reyes, Matt Furie, and many others.
I’m big on floral prints, which explains why I’m so attracted to the new Winter Kate 2011 Spring collection by Nicole Richie. The line revolves around bright flowery patterns inspired by the 70s to create a chic Bohemian look. It’s all style and no haughtiness.
Silence. In this world of near constant noise and motion, it really has become a sadly neglected and undervalued commodity. Yet, as I sit, looking down on a bustling metropolis of speeding cars, people, and minds, I can’t help but wonder what impact this sensory overload will have on not just our generation, but on all those to follow. Improv Everywhere strikes again with a spontaneous musical in a Los Angeles mall. Wireless microphones hooked up to the mall’s PA system ensured the feeding masses didn’t slip into Cinnabon-induced comas until after the show was over. Note especially the angry dude in sunglasses at about 2:51 — apparently he thinks nothing can ever top Rent.
Greek firm A31 just completed this sturdy-looking art warehouse for Alexandros Liapis in Dilesi, Boeotia. From some angles, the concrete structure looks like a fallout-proof bunker, but from the front it looks like an open and airy barn, the exterior looking very much like wood. Read more

New York’s Infinity Window make some tripped-out, droning, psychedelic raagas that would be appropriate scoring films by Kenneth Anger or John Carpenter. Ominous and dark, the duo makes sounds like the rebirth of an ancient god.

Though it still maintains its 2-in-1 design, it now houses a smaller section to comfortably hold compact cameras, and a larger compartment for all the other things you need. Pitched as ‘Ulterior Motives in Contemporary Art’, Disorder Disorder is running until November 14 at Penrith Regional Gallery. It’ll be well worth the trip out west of Sydney: the Australian, Japanese, American and European cast reads like a warriors of street art roundup and includes Mike Giant, Ed Templeton, Anthony Lister [artwork above], Ozzie Wright, and Jonathan Zawada. Sometime in 2010, the folks behind Dirty Dishes had the slightly silly idea of using cheeky vintage photos and putting them on dinner plates. After doing lots of research, talking to lots of people, and receiving loads of positive feedback, they wondered if this idea was so silly after all. And thus Dirty Dishes was born. Read more
