One of my favorite artists is Albert Oehlen. How does he make the failure of painting seem so effortless? His tinkering with technology has allowed him to rebuild, with seemingly familiar tools, echoes of the worlds around us. The work can appear as lost as we are in our lives, cyber space, or whatever, while still being tethered to forces beyond our control.
FOR CREATIVE INSPIRATION
In partnership with our friends at Optus, we present the third in a three part Lost At E Minor video series that puts the spotlight on some young, handpicked Australian creatives, doing inspirational things within their chosen fields. Episode Three features 16-year old Melbourne-based producer, Gab Strum (aka Japanese Wallpaper), who has racked up thousands of plays over the past year or so via a number of well-blogged remixes ranging from City Calm Down and The Townhouses to bootlegs of The xx and Bon Iver.
