We featured a series of guest contributions from iconic street artist Shepard Fairey recently where he wrote about the work of some of his favorite artists, photographers, bands and DJs (Z-Trip, anyone?). Fairey’s iconic image of Barack Obama was featured on the cover of Time Magazine’s Person Of The Year issue, but even before that he was well known as the creator of the ubiquitous Andre The Giant sticker. Australia’s largest private museum will soon have some super futuristic and luxurious accommodations for guests. These awesome structures, designed by Nonda Katsilidis, definitely aim to reflect the art housed in the museum with their hyper modernist look.
This odd, atmospheric animation by web artists Aaron Russ Clinger and Miltos Manetas is simple but effective, a finely rendered piece of interactive art. There are some pretty crazy things you can make the floating man do if you play around with this long enough.
You may have already heard composer Nico Muhly this year on All Is Well, Samamidon’s lovely reimaginings of immigrant folk songs. (If you haven’t, you should). Mothertongue, Muhly’s second album and first for Brassland (run by members of the National), is divided into three acts. Read more
Ok, so that’s me up there on the right. Yup, rocking out in the 55DSL tee and feeling a little pleased with how it’s all going down. Well, actually, a disclaimer: it’s not … quite … me. I mean, I’m wearing the same shirt right now as he is, and I’m kinda the same height. But he isn’t the same person. We aren’t one. Set up in 2011, Rebel Unlit is a printing collaboration between London based Artists Neil Butler and Shanney Mulcahy. They make short run screen-printed t-shirts and limited edition prints from their studio in East London. All the t shirts are fair traded and printed by hand and, as a result, each one is unique.
