For this short, British animator Davide Prosser turns crude, gestural, 2D drawings into dynamic 3D characters via AfterEffects, making for a very unique aesthetic. Though, like so many other animated shorts, Clockwork has no dialogue and utilizes rather cliched themes such as urban isolation and the dehumanizing effect of labor, the style and presentation of this film is still quite affecting.
At times it might be rude and crude, but no matter what your taste, if you have even a bit of a sense of humour, Natalie Dee will make you laugh, if not cringe or just softly chuckle at her cartoons. They may seem like simple drawings at first, but look a little closer, and these friendly penguins and gossip girls are full of personality. Read more

French design dynamo Jean-Marie Massaud has created a Manned Cloud. A cruise airship with a hotel for 40 passengers and 15 staff, Massaud worked with the Office National d’Etudes et de Recherche Aérospatiale in this proposal. Read more
We spoke to Dopepope about his latest Metal Man Project: ‘In the fifth grade, I drew a comic called Metal Man about a humanoid robot that went crazy and pulled knives on people. It’s the most ridiculous thing ever. I was a kid! Anyway, I found the artwork and simply traced the head and the logo exactly as I had them and fell in love with the iconic shapes they’ve created’. I caught Chicago’s Ga’an the other night at the Empty Bottle, and they blew me away. I’d never heard of these guys, but they make driving, gothic prog sounds like satanic Krautrock with guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and the night I saw them, a female vocalist. There is no distinct frontman, but for me, drummer Seth Sher’s intense and precise playing was the highlight of the show.
Finding an original accessory these days is a bit of a rarity. I mean, when every second person you see is wearing one of those damn Palestinian scarfs, you know the industry is crying out for a fresh take. Enter Sydney-based jewellery label August + Pemberton. Read more
