Australian pastry guru Adriano Zumbo recently launched his latest collection of quirky seasonal desserts, fresh from a stint in the kitchen of French patisserie genius, Pierre Hermé. Fittingly titled 40 Days and 40 Nights in Paris, Zumbo’s winter compilation is a passionate exploration of endless flavors and colors, innovative and daringly matched. Read more

 

Taking inspiration from the work of the originator of this origami artform, Professor Masahiro Chatani, Amsterdam-based Ingrid Siliakus does paper replicates of the ‘buildings of master architects and intricate abstract sculptures’.

Anje Jager is an artist from The Netherlands who now lives in Berlin. I just admire her so much, with her clear line drawings and simple art strokes. Read more

If you come to Berlin, then I recommend this little shop, Dederon Design, specializing in stuff manufactured in, or inspired by, the former GDR (East Germany). Everything from ice cream cups to LP racks and toys. The woman running the shop even designs bags in some weird GDR-invented plastic material.

What can’t Jay Z do? Not content with having recorded the contemporary tribute to Gotham City, the all round entrepreneur has just launched an online lifestyle magazine called Life and Times, which the mighty one will personal curate.

The sound New Zealand band The Brunettes make is Hallmark card pop — naïve sincerity mixed with low-fi, casual kitsch. Says chief songwriter, Jonathan Bree: ‘You’ll find us somewhere between US punk and just before classic 60s romps’. And so we will.

Look closely. This stunning storybook gown was made entirely from recycled Golden Books, all sewn together with metallic gold thread. Heck, even the bodice is made from the books’ foil spines. We love. Read more
