In 2011, artist Christianna Cassisa, created a series of paintings called The Place. In Cassisa’s words: ‘The Place exists inside and outside of each of us, meeting at the point of our inspired expressions’. Each painting is of a distant horizon. Albeit abstract, Cassisa evokes emotion through the unique color palettes used in each painting in the eight piece series.

Expeditions Without a Parachute is the next chapter in my art work. But if you contemplate them further, there’s also an abstract-narrative that belongs to you as it unfolds in your imagination.

We could all use a little abstract painting in our lives, and Dale Frank’s abstraction carries on into their titles. Each painting comes with a very interesting and complex title that will have you looking twice at the image.

An example of such a title can be seen here: ‘She was always illogically quite amorous and horny during her Period. Thankfully she produced an dour odor, a smell caught between week old gazpacho and wet dead rodent always a few days prior, which was a kind of warning, a signal that triggered the self preservation tactics of her house mates’. Guess which image goes with that title?

From direct, urban, almost punk foundations, London-based artist Karl Bielik’s recent work has moved towards a more subtle and refined aesthetic. Brash combinations of found materials and industrial paints have given way to calculated mark making and a more sophisticated use of color. These messy, graphic oil paintings retain the energy of his earlier work but the literal and emotional darkness has become an implicit yet subtle undercurrent.

Kristine Moran’s Francis Bacon-esque paintings are abstracted just enough to obscure the dark, sensual, and supernatural trysts between nebulous, writhing figures.
