The BBC has unveiled the title sequence and marketing campaign for the 2012 Olympic Games. Based on Stadium UK, where the UK is seen as a giant stadium with athletes preparing and competing in a range of landscapes. I believe the concept will only get stronger as time goes on. This animation, with the track, First Steps by Elbow, is very impressive. A fine effort by the BBC.

If ever there was an underrated craft, it was crochet. Most of us would associate it with grandmas and dated décor, but there are a few artists willing to elevate it into something much more interesting. Shauna Richardson’s Crochetdermy combines crochet with taxidermy to make life-sized crocheted animals. Recently Richardson has taken her craft to its limits in a two year project to make three gigantic lions for the 2012 London Olympics.
