Can this be true? Vadering, a geeky Star Wars reference to Darth Vader’s invisible neck choke, might just be the next big Internet phenomenon. At least two people need to be in the shot, with one playing the role of Vader with one outstretched arm and clenched fingers, and another playing victim suspended in mid-air, neck apparently choked, grasping with air. Kind of raises the levitation challenge to another level.

Seems like the Chinese have just invented a new way to punish their dogs: make them strap on some pantyhose, and stilettos too, for added sexiness. Is it just us, or do most of the dogs in the pictures sport a resigned look on their face? It’s amusing for all of one second, but quickly goes downhill into a disturbing zone. If you must dress your dog, at least make it a cool one, like an AT-AT Imperial Walker or something.

With an agenda to push the boundaries and bring a younger voice to Australian TV, SBS 2 launched this week and looks set to unleash a unique perspective on edgy culture and comedy, travel and sports. This is a very welcome addition to Australian television, offering viewers ‘free-to-air and Australian premiere content including the channel’s first commissioned program’, The Feed, which will provide a fresh take on breaking news stories at 7.30pm and 8:30pm daily – stay tuned for the full show in late May. We’re also particularly buzzed about four shows that SBS 2 are going to be screening:

* Community: a cult comedy reminiscent of Arrested Development and Parks & Recreation and starring the inimitable Chevy Chase

I’m not sure if this chart from ChartGeek tests your knowledge of the English language or actually only reveals your nerdy obsession with Star Wars. Ok, let’s be honest. If you can figure out what each letter stands for in this chart, it only shows of your embarrassingly vast knowledge of the Star Wars  universe. The ever-prolific Olly Moss, who has done too many cool projects — like the Star Wars poster and these fantastic silhouettes — also claims to be on a ‘continuing quest to ruin super heroes for everyone’. There are only two in the series so far, but the English graphic designer has already ruined Spidey for us. Though the other one of Wolverine (or is it really… Batman?) is pretty clever too. So JJ Abrams, he who revived Star Trek not that long ago, has jumped ship from the Enterprise to, er, the Death Star. YouTube users Antonius and Vijay have created the silliest musical duet featuring a confrontation between Darth Vader and JJ Abrams on a pier of all places. The latter tries to pledge his new allegiance by **SPOILERS ALERT** promising to kill off Jar Jar, enlisting the help of Disney princesses, and even inviting the darkly-caped one for a bit of tap-dancing. It all ends well, of course.

Martin Hunt started to make his own origami models while studying math at Southampton University. Eschewing traditional Japanese forms, he began replicating classic Star Wars space ships and fighters. He now has more than 20 creations derived from the blockbuster George Lucas film franchise.

Hunt shares some of his designs already through his website and on YouTube, but he’s taking his origami creations to the wider world. In October, he exhibited some large scale versions at the London MCM Expo and Comic Con and is seeking a publisher to release a book of diagrams for his designs.

My yoga studio recently knocked on the idea of doing a Halloween-themed class on the day itself. Naturally I was thinking of turning up as a zombie — which is how I found this 5-year-old clip of people dressed up as zombies, fighting decay with yoga. Don’t quite dig the music, but it is beautifully directed by Jason Wishnow, the filmmaking guy who does these excellent TEDTalks (his short bio reads: ‘… makes movies with zombies, unicorns, semen, vegetables, supermodels, Star Wars fans, and Nobel laureates’, which really says everything). Hmm, wonder how well the zombies have held up since then.

So we’ve seen this Stormtrooper being all paternal in these pictures by Kristina Alexanderson, but now, thanks to Brain Pickings, we now know his boss, Darth Vader, as a daddy who’s actively involved in raising his kid too. Comic artist Jeffrey Brown has illustrated these precious father-and-son bonding moments in an illustrated storybook that includes batting with lightsabers and Skywalker Sr going ‘This isn’t the toy you’re looking for’ to his son Luke. Charming.
