Peter Lik
Self-taught Australian photographer Peter Lik is one of the world’s most awarded and prolific landscape photographers. He has travelled extensively and captured many remarkable landscapes, making use of natural light in remarkable, semi-abstract ways to create unique and stunning images. Every year he wins several awards from competitions in a variety of countries.
The internationally acclaimed fine art photographer has been documenting landscapes with panoramic pictures that showcase the brilliant colours and elegant terrain of nature for over 25 years. Peter Lik has also sold pictures to some of the world’s top artists, along with an impressive list of celebrities and sportspeople. His first gallery opened in Australia over 10 years ago, and he now has galleries through Australia and the USA.

Hailing from the beautiful surrounds of Cairns, Australia, self-taught photographer Peter Lik has immersed himself in the endless world of the scenic landscapes that he has diligently documented over his years of travelling to exotic locations. ‘It was while travelling in Alaska in 1994 that his fascination with photography took a dramatic turn. Previously only working with 35mm cameras, he discovered the encompassing view of the panoramic camera and he was converted’. He has galleries in Sydney, Noosa, Hawaii and Las Vegas. Yes, we can make Barrack Obama sushi! Well, Ken Kawasumi can. The award-winning sushi chef from Tokyo Sushi Academy took out the 2009 championship title with his adorable presidential creation. He used small shrimp (amis) to form Obama’s skin, black sesame for his hair, and fish paste for teeth. Why can’t Australia have a handsome Prime Minister so we can make political sushi?

Stylistically The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is hard to pin down, except to say that they throw one hell of a party – which may be why those music-loving folks at Apple chose them to help sell what’s being touted as ‘the funnest iPod ever’. Sun-drenched pop melodies collide with Technicolor dreams, anchored by the band’s shared love of the classic soul stylings of Marvin, Stevie and Sly that can be heard in the horns snaking through Around The Bend, as well as the slinky The Sun Ain’t Shining No More [below], the Thomas Gold remix of which we have available for free download in the Music Download section of Lost At E Minor [psst, it's in the third column], along with a stack of other cool tunes.
