SUBMITTING BANNER ART
If you’d like to submit a banner to run at the top of the Lost At E Minor website, please submit it at the following dimensions:

* 540px wide x 125px high at 72dpi
* The banner can be a GIF, JPG or PNG, depending on the type of image.

Bear in mind that JPG is most appropriate for detailed images; GIF for really basic blocks of colour; and png has issues in some older browsers because it has alpha-transparency settings.

SUBMITTING ART, ILLUSTRATIONS, PHOTOGRAPHY, MUSIC OR FASHION
If you want to submit some work to be featured on Lost At E Minor, or you just want to let us know about someone you think we should be covering, then let us know via the Submission Form below.

Please send us three images with your submission in the following format:
* Low res jpegs at 72 dpi and less than 100kb, or you owe us a soda
* 480 pixels wide, or the Nigerian diplomat won’t actually transfer funds to your account
* Preferably less than 500 pixels high, or you will be sucked into an alternate dimension where everyone is named Bob

SUBMITTING CLOTHES, CDS OR PRODUCTS FOR REVIEW
Yes, we love samples — except for Burmese aphrodisiacs and running shoes made out of wood. So please, for the love of all that’s good in the world, stop sending us those. But send everything else to:

New York photographer Jennifer Loeber’s series, Cruel Story of Youth, is based on the Rowe Camp for teenagers, where she spent some time and which is ‘grounded in the ideals of a counter-cultural past and freed from the forced constraints of a conventional camp experience. It’s a glimpse into what the world would be like if no ideas were too absurd, and eccentricity was the rule, not the exception’. Read more

Recently formed hip-hop duo, Rootbeer (Pigeon John and Flynn Adam), have just dropped a super fresh piece of audio pie right in your kitchen. Influenced by artists such as MGMT, N.E.R.D and A Tribe Called Quest, Rootbeer offer up an edgy and unfeigned lyrical style. Turn up their debut release, The Pink Limousine EP, to eleven. You’ll find it impossible not to make shapes.

How do you explain a rainbow? I’m sure science has its answers. In fact, one has probably been manufactured in a test tube somewhere. Read more

I came across the Dongzhong cave school, which is situated in a Miao village within the Ziyun county, while watching a fascinating BBC documentary series about China the other night. The school, which was built in 1984 and caters for just under 200 students, is considered to be ‘a teaching branch for nearby resident units’. It looks stunning in its ornate beauty, and it must be one hell of a stimulating environment in which to learn. Read more

My friend, illustrator Ai Tatebayashi, is known for her lovely color schemes and she forwarded me the link to this beautiful handknit accessory store from Istanbul. With Etsy, we can now purchase talented designer’s work from all over the world. And I couldn’t resist, I bought a necklace-scarf and cannot wait until it comes to my door! Read more

Our friends over at SNAP!, Montreal’s only free and independent arts and lifestyle magazine have just released their fourth issue in which they look back and celebrate the faded beauty of past eras, grandmas and grandpas, Polaroids, antique finds, old wisdom and vintage style. Yeeha! They also remember the best of 2008 in Montreal arts, with a variety of writers and photographers giving their take on their favourite cultural discoveries.

Car from made ice

Forget battery powered vehicles. Cars made from ice are the future of transportation: no pollution, no honking horns, no painful rap music blasting out of souped up stereos. And if they melt, they melt. You just swim the rest of the way down the slipstream.

The Swimmers

I live the upbeat, feel good tempo of the new single — A Hundred Hearts — from Philly group, The Swimmers. Off their latest album, People Are Soft, this song is a strangely fitting anthem for the blustery day outside.
