This is a fun new video by Toro Y Moi. Like scenes cut from that 1990s movie, The Frighteners, it’s a perfect goof-off, with colors from outerspace and funky animation on top of a great end of Summer song. How I Know is taken from the album Underneath the Pine.

Our new EP is due to be released early October. It’s a five tracker, trying to capture the social struggles that I witness within our Western society. The songs challenge the faults in our education system, our addictions to medication, and mechanical uniform fashions, amongst many other things. Read more

Okay, this is greatness in all forms. This is why I make art and I can’t hang out with most human beings. The emotions, the music, everything. Even if you’re not a fan of rap music, you should have this album. Pure excellence.

Bjork is back with a new album, and here’s the new video from the single Crystalline. It’s directed by Michel Gondry, who has directed her videos before, and it’s awesome.

Listening to Cities Aviv reminds me of my first summer with a car. Aviv’s flow does whatever it wants on top the dreamy beats of Digital Lows. Float On is a perfect example of this. I imagine Aviv heard this Modest Mouse cover and knew exactly what to do with it.

Although performing on stage with the likes of Nicole Atkins, A.C. Newman (the New Pornographers), Parlor Mob, and Craig Wedren (Shudder to Think), Stephen Warwick is a musician most of us haven’t heard of. He hails from Charlotte, NC, one of the largest banking cities in the southeastern United States. Not the most likely of places for a musician to grow creatively. Read more

We love the new Mountain Goats video for their single Estate Sale Sign, which was directed by Brooklyn-based animation team Awesome and Modest: the video was made ‘using mixed media and handmade techniques to craft the eerie landscapes and anthropomorphic creatures at war over a snow globe’.

Yeeha! Another groundbreaking video from the best in the biz. For this latest effort, OK GO worked with director Trish Sie (who is the sister of lead singer Damian Kulash), the dance troupe Pilobolus, and the guys at Google to ‘create the latest HTML5 Chrome Experiment and musical experience. The project showcases the latest in modern browser technology, using 12 separate windows to create a kaleidoscopic dance that is partially choreographed by the viewer’. Enjoy!

Joe and Honey’s crunchy sound takes you on a trip along the American highway, going through dusty desert landscape, and every now and then stopping at a dingy bar. Their EP is fantastic. Hopefully there is more to come.

In this new music video for Melbourne indie-rock trio Celadore, an 80s wedding goes bad when guests from hell hijack the proceedings, to the horror of the unsuspecting wedding band. It went from concept to post in fifteen days and was shot on a Canon 7d and 5dmarkII DSLR.

Youn Sun Nah is not your typical jazz singer. Yes, being Korean does add to her unconventional appeal in the world of modern jazz. But what is really interesting about her is the way she uses her powerful voice. Read more

Yelle's La Musique is a twisted animated disaster romp full of pop stars, movie icons, parrots, tsunamis, flying popsicles, and dancing polar bears.
The self-proclaimed masters of music viral videos — Ok Go — have done it again with another memorable, delectable, and this time, pet friendly clip for their new song, White Knuckles.
Gold is the new video by electronic trio Darkstar, and it's a beautiful trip inward.
So Many Voices is the lovechild of three Melbourne lads, fusing their love for beats, electro, and partying into an amalgamation of electronic brilliance that'll get your heart racing.
Even though it's all just text, I think this video is real dope. This is an animation created by Mario Troise for the song Mathematics by Mos Def, which was released in 1999.
Further, the seventh studio album from the Chemical Brothers, marks the return to the classic, elegant hooks that set the earlier Chemical Brothers' albums apart.
Cheap (in a good way) electro gothic madness by Crystal Castles. This awesome, asphyxiating, bombastic video for Baptism, from the album Crystal Castles II, makes me want to dance and hide all at the same time.
Small Sur, a folk/pop project fronted by singer-songwriter Bob Keal, will obviously garner comparisons to Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, but there's distinctly less pathos in Keal's songwriting.
In my next life, I want to sing like Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison. Oh, and grow a lush beard, so I can play in their band.
