Now you can explore historic and contemporary design from your armchair. And better yet, you can search for items by colour. The website for Cooper-Hewitt, NYC’s design museum, is in beta mode but is an alpha-dog in innovation. Inspired by Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum, a grid of 117 colors have been taken from the CSS3 palette and naming conventions, with each object having up to give representative colors attached to it (selected by ‘robotic eye machines’).
