In 1936, the first Quadretti Colorado, a prototype of a highly unusual double-nibbed fountain pen, was created by an Italian named Orlando Quadretti who was born in Bologna in 1911 in San Giovanni, Persiceto, in Bologna. He did not patent his pen until after WWII had ended, with the dates variously given as 1946 and 1949.
