These little illustrations by California artist Norio Fujikawa are super cute. I know, the little Grim Reaper is a tiny bit morbid, but he’s adorable too! I used to cover my school papers with similar baby Grims, but these guys are way better than mine ever were. And I love their placement on Snoopy’s Doghouse or swimming in the pool. They’re just normal guys doing normal things.

Wanna see the originals? Head over to the Black Sheep Bar that Fujikawa made them for back in March.

Based in Seattle, Washington, freelance vector artist Jared Nickerson creates truly unique and stunning artwork. His pieces often play together through layers of line art, images collage and coexist creating flows of flowers, ferns, fists. Stacks of shapes, piles of pipes and pieces of industry. The layers, colors, collage all coming together in a creative balanced whole. The style is reminiscent of graffiti street art, but the digital nature of the creation allows Nickerson freedom to remix the artwork and create several variations on each piece.

Nickerson’s art is produced under the name J3 Concepts, and his portfolio can be seen on his homepage. His art is tremendous, is available for download, as desktops, printed on tshirts by various companies and brands.

She swept the Society of Illustrator’s Student Competitions with Scholarships awards, and has a promising future ahead of her. Her drawings remind me of vintage children book’s illustrations with a timeless quality about them.

To do a portrait of a person is to dig deep into his or her soul, to understand what they do and why they do it, and then make it visible. When this person is a celebrity, the job is harder because they’ve already gone through many interpretations. Still, you have to find something new. Well, in a human you can always find something new, you just have to look and listen. These portraits depict famous people in a honest and personal way, reminiscencent of early photography and the Flemish painters.

What Marco Mazzoni can do with coloured pencils on a moleskine sketchbook is pretty amazing. The Modenese artist has a taste for delicate, very detailed renders and intricate compositions of small animals and mystical women. In his women portrait series, he chooses not to paint the eyes, which he sees as a distraction, thus infusing an hypnotical and mysterious atmosphere to his work. Blending mystical Italian folklore, medicinal flora and symbolic fauna with delicate femininity, he creates ghostly characters and images that are full of hidden meaning.

Don Kenn is a Danish writer and director of television shows for kids. On top of that, he has his own set of kids, so he doesn’t have much free time. But when he does, he draws monsters on Post-Its with a ball-point pen. And he’s pretty damn good at it. His bestiarium makes me often think of John Bauer, but his style is quite unique in being deep and scary and simple and childish at the same time.
