Awkward Family Photos

The Awkward Family Photos blog is a treasure-trove of embarassingly hilarious photos from the photo albums of people from around the world who send them in to the editors of Awkward Family Photos to reveal in all their glory to their readership.
Awkward Family Photos has a classic collection of 1980s family portraits, in particular, but Awkward Family Photos manages to post truly disturbing, yet ridiculously funny images of the badly dressed, bizarrely posed, and invariably strange-looking families as they wish to be remembered — or forgotten! — across all eras. One for the ages!

Personally, I think it’s difficult for family photos to not be a bit stilted and weird, but Awkward Family Photos manages to post truly baffling images of badly dressed, strangely posed, and generally weird-looking clans as they wish to be remembered. Read more

The limited to a hundred special edition high-resolution digital scans feature the intricately lined Vitamin Sea sketch from Boyd’s renowned Ectoplasm exhibit. I’m really digging the centred wave pouncing into the foreground. Nice!
Not that we’re ones to poke fun (gettit?) at the Facebook supremo, but what the hell: M.I.C Gadget did it for us. Though I say, ‘did’. Their cheeky Poking Inventor toy — ‘the next greatest action figure for tech nerds’ — has just been quietly discontinued. We wonder if Zucks got the sooks? Read more
Australian group Pivot have recently signed with the mighty Warp label and — even better (well, for us anyway) — have written a fun Secret Playlist for us. You can see where the many disparate influences have seeped into their latest recording, the beautiful and colourful, O Soundtrack My Heart.
Wow, they are getting into some crazy things in Poland! The aptly named PMS Collective have positioned a series of ‘‘friendly blow-up dolls‘ for those Polish drivers, and cyclists, who just can’t wait until they get home. Sander Reijgers, where are you when we need you! Read more

I’ve yet to find out what they put in the water in Germany that generates such a consistently rich stream of good electronica. Carrying the torch at the moment is Hendrik Weber, aka Pantha du Prince, whose early 2007 release, This Bliss, landed on my doormat with a deep bass-kick and hasn’t left my iPod since. Read more
