San Francisco artist Lisa Congdon does beautiful mixed media drawings. This one is of a woman from the arctic Sami people, taken from her Boreas series. Her work is nicely coloured and insightful, yet childish in the most perfect way.

Katsuyo Aoki is a Japanese sculptor from Tokyo who uses porcelain to create her series of skull shaped works, entitled Predictive Dream. As she says: ‘The decorative styles, patterns and symbolic forms I allude to and incorporate in my works each contain a story based on historical backgrounds and ideas, myths, and allegories’. These sculptures take me back to that childhood movie, The Dark Crystal, or even The Predator.

Much of photographer Andrew Goldie’s recent work involves high-speed macro photography. I love the sand and water images, in particular. They remind me of the cards a psychiatrist used to hold up or a moth having a fit; so 3D you think you could almost grab and manipulate the image further yourself.

One of my interns came across this skull work by English graphic designer Jitesh Patel, who has a studio in Shoreditch, London. I have a serious love for skulls and this work done entirely in paper is just incredible. He uses his blog to celebrate tote bag prints and the talented designers who create digital illustration and graphic design print.
