Honeydrum has a new EP called Pleasures of the Sun for AMDISCS coming out on July 15. These lo-fi kids are cranking out really wonderful cassettes of swirly baritone pop, totally pure and perfect.
Weird little video from Yacht for new song Utopia/Dystopia (The Earth Is On Fire). The spatial environment in the video is a 3D visualization of the ideas of the radical architecture group Superstudio, whose vision of Utopia was a world without buildings and objects.
Sculptor and conceptual artist Romy Scheroder transforms chairs into distorted surreal artwork that totally bends your spacial perception. Her awesome work is currently on display at the Bronx Calling: The First AIM Biennial at Wave Hill until September 5.
This could quite possibly be the most addictive news-to-music mash-up since Bed Intruder: Nobody Canna Cross It. You will be singing this tonight when you’re going to sleep and crooning it tomorrow on your way to work. Just watch out for the flash floods, because, you know, your bus can’t swim.
Imagine Sim City going fractal from the outer edge of the universe to the smallest cell in your body. It all looks that amazing in the new music video for Hooray For Earth’s True Loves (Cereal Spiller Remix), animated and directed by Cyriak Harris.
Digging this new direction that David Lynch is taking into electronic music, something totally different from the iconic filmmaker. Check out the video for Good Day Today, directed by Arnold de Parscau.
Corduroi, aka Cody Wilson, has a great video for the song All Ways, directed by Color Chart — a collaborative effort between Prague, the Czech Republic, and now Austin, comprised of directors James Longmire, Tristan Love, and Edward Shore.
Blank City is a documentary that I want to actually step into and go back in time. It’s an oral history of a group of renegade NYC indie filmmakers from the 70s and mid 80s. Think Nick Zedd, Jim Jarmusch, and John Waters, with commentary by Debbie Harry, Steve Buscemi, Thurston Moore, and Fab 5 […]
I’m loving these weird pieces by Yoh Nagao a clothing/tshirt designer and artist from Japan. With such a unique color palette, furry arms, multiple eyeballs, and day-glo psychedelic painted nails, you just can’t go wrong.
Deep house music label Crosstown Rebels’ Rebel Rave video series is quite remarkable. Check out their visit to Machu Picco and Peru’s first ever day time beach party. Featuring Damian Lazarus, Clive Henry and Jamie Jones. Beautiful!
Messed up art from Chicago-artist, Jim Nutt. This piece, called Miss T. Garmint (she pants a lot), is from 1967 and is a great example of how his last name exemplifies his wonderfully crazy art. An exhibition of his work entitled Jim Nutt: Coming Into Character runs until May 29 at the Museum of Contemporary […]
Living Feral, aka Tracy Jager, does really wonderful collage work that makes you feel very nostalgic and acidic at the same time. This is one of my favorites called ‘you’d planned to move with a kind of largeness’.
