Australian-based graphic designer Kevin Finn founded DESIGNerd in mid-2010. The label recently brought out their first range of products: the DESIGNerd 100+ Design Trivia Games. I happened to be the very first person to purchase the games and have fallen in love with them. They’re loads of fun and a great way to promote design education for both students and professionals.

Published by Process is a Melbourne-based publisher of the quarterly publication Process Journal, which is by far one of my favourite Australian design magazines. Not only is the content wonderful, but the execution and design of every issue is created to the highest standards. The magazine is an essential piece for every designer’s library.

Working in delicate layers of watercolour washes, Sydney-based artist Monika Viktoria creates an elusive world woven from whispers and memories. I recently came across her current series, Of Lace and Moss, which is a collection of romantic portraits rendered with touching detail and soft nuances of colour.

After years of collecting inspirational images on his computer, Brisbane-based graphic designer Matt Lenz decided to create an online archive, which is how this impressive website came to be. The site is definitely worth a regular visit for anyone requiring a visual boost and is a great source of inspiration.

Our friends over at SNAP!, Montreal’s only free and independent arts and lifestyle magazine have just released their fourth issue in which they look back and celebrate the faded beauty of past eras, grandmas and grandpas, Polaroids, antique finds, old wisdom and vintage style. Yeeha! They also remember the best of 2008 in Montreal arts, with a variety of writers and photographers giving their take on their favourite cultural discoveries.

Nine months ago Sydney couple Matt Cribb and Bree Carter decided they’d take their relationship to the next level. They started making beats. After posting two home-recorded tracks on MySpace as WOW, they got the attention of New York-based independent label Metal Postcard who agreed to release the duo’s first official pressing. Read more
