This place is pretty popular in my hometown, Canberra, but I don’t think a lot of people know about it unless they explore or live on the other side of the lake. So I was pleasantly surprised when my wife found A Bite To Eat. They do great food, and while I’m not vegetarian, they do great vegan food there, too.

Anyone who knows me is privy to the knowledge that I’m actually obsessed with soccer, and in particular, the Australian national team, the Socceroos. This song is by two of England’s most creative footballers ever: Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle. Recorded in an era when sportspeople would hit the charts with novelty songs, Diamond Lights is a cracker piece of 80s pop with weird post-punk undercurrents.

Many of my friends don’t get why I like the band Blur so much, and Damon Albarn in particular. I think he’s got an interesting musical insight and while I’m not a massive Gorillaz fan, a lot of his projects outside of Blur are great, including this recent baroque-folk-opera written about the life of Dr John Dee: a mathematician, astrologer, occultist and consultant to Queen Elizabeth I.
