After snow dumped in Montreal, snowboarder Sebastien Toutant headed out to a hill called Mt. Royal, found just downtown. What’s fun about this short film is that it includes both urban riding with features like rails, but it also seems secluded from the city, with tree runs and cliff drops. The best part is that over the two days of filming, it’s been edited to make it look like one continuous run.

I like Jun Fujiwara’s idea to transform the everyday sounds around us into our own song. Take the cork off the Sound Bottle, let your pug snort into it or hold it in front of any sound source to begin recording. Then put the cork back in once you’re done. All the sounds recorded are then compiled into a rhythmic song, continuously remixing every time you open the bottle again.

I’m a Montana-based BFA student and this is my first collage series, called Mapping, which shows the transformation of our landscapes due to human impact over time. They are surreal yet light-hearted, while showing a collision between the organic and inorganic.

This series was taken as Amy Stein traveled across America over five years, photographing stranded motorists. They have a really great film quality to them and she captures the looks and emotion of being stuck on the roadside quite well. She even has a Google map of all the locations she stopped to photograph.

This documentary series was created over a span of three years as Mark Menjivar traveled across the United States to photograph the interiors of refrigerators in homes. The results are like portraits, each reflecting how jobs, economic status, and possibly, life experiences affect what foods we consume. I like the little facts he includes about each individual. My favorite is probably the gallery owner who is noted to be, “not very good at small talk.” There’s a milk to people ratio of 5:1.
