Cat Rabbit is a Hobart based artist and toy designer who constantly creeps locals out with her bizarre doll creations. Cat Rabbit, who is often seen bleeding from the fingertips whilst looking at kittens in a pet store window, is making the journey from her Tasmanian base to Sydney to delight us with her plush creatures. Her hand-sewn creations can be seen at Newtown’s Ruban Rat designer toy store and gallery from May 9th.

Marka27′s new Killa Instinct figure will be released soon by BIC Industries. Marka called upon his years of experience as a graffiti writer to create a toy that reflected the ‘all-consuming pursuit of widespread urban exposure’. Of the figure he says, ‘Killa Instinct is set to destroy anyone or anything that gets in his way of desire for domination through the means of getting up, with his Killa Styles, burners, tags, throwups, by any means necessary’.

It’s a fact, people who don’t like clutter don’t collect plush and vinyl toys. The myriad of sizes, shapes, colours and textures in any collector’s display would put any minimal loving layman into a tizzy. So those of us who love our toys, also love clutter. And I am really loving the latest issue of the toy-centric Clutter Magazine, number 12, which recently hit the newsstands.

Sun-Min Kim and David Horvath, who brought you the very cute Ugly Dolls, have just released their new vinyl figure set, Mothman vs Flatwoods Monster: Super Market Toys Play Set. A play on those little farm animals and army men you find at the supermarket, the Mothman play set includes two 3.5 inch figures, field fence, and oak tree modeled after eye witness reports to this strange event which took place in West Virginia.

It was good to catch the Kaiju Invades NYC exhibition of custom monster figures from America and Japan, which ran recently at New York’s Showroom Gallery, and showcased some wonderfully inventive creations.

OhNo!Doom’s ravenous FluffyYukYuk is a plushie with a serious chomp action. FluffyYukYuk follows the success of FluffyBadBad but one notable improvement is that the chomping teeth are no longer made of metal but plastic. January 26 was the release date of The Vivisect Playset mini-toy figure series produced by STRANGEco’s. The Vivisect Playset features mini-figures by artists Anthony Ausgang, Luke Chueh, Peter Gronquist, Thomas Han, Joe Ledbetter, Greg Simkins and Amanda Visell. Quite a lineup!
